Why So-Hum Was Founded

Born from a parent's love, built on hope.

So-Hum Parivar Foundation is a purpose-driven special needs school and vocational training centre in Gurgaon, founded by parents of a young adult with autism to support individuals with developmental and learning needs.

What started as a hope for such a space has grown into a nurturing ecosystem for learning, therapy and vocational development.

"We started So-Hum to create the place we wished had existed for our family—where every child's potential is recognized and nurtured."

Today, So-Hum is a comprehensive school, vocational and therapy centre and also a sheltered workshop near Dwarka Expressway, Gurgaon, supporting children, young adults and adults with autism, developmental delays and special needs to build confidence, skills and meaningful futures.

Shaurya's Journey of Focus and Understanding

From Restless to Focused

When 5-year-old Shaurya first came to So-Hum, he found it difficult to sit even for a minute and struggled to understand or follow instructions. With consistent one-on-one support, structured routines, and a nurturing environment, Shaurya began to connect and engage.

Just six months later, he can now sit attentively for up to 20 minutes, follows commands in one go, and shows growing understanding of his surroundings. His progress reflects the power of early intervention and patient, loving guidance.

Danish's Journey from Anxiety to Confidence

Age 15

When Danish joined So-Hum, he spoke very little and was often anxious in social settings. Through patient guidance, structured communication sessions, and supportive peer interactions, Danish slowly opened up.

"Today, he is a cheerful, confident young man who enjoys meaningful conversations with friends and takes pride in his work."

Yug's Journey from Resistance to Routine

Age 9

Nine-year-old Yug joined So-Hum Smiles with significant behavioural challenges—he struggled to sit for tasks, study, and had restraint issues. With eight months of consistent guidance, structured routines, and positive reinforcement, Yug has transformed remarkably.

"He now studies willingly, waits patiently for his turn, and follows the rhythm of the school day with growing self-control and confidence."

Adyant's Journey into Learning and Expression

Age 6

Six-year-old Adyant joined So-Hum Smiles with strong task-following skills but limited academic readiness and no verbal communication. With patient support, multisensory teaching, and speech stimulation, he has started showing interest in academics and is now attempting to speak.
